Service User Involvement Project

The Aberdeenshire ADAT has appointed an officer to work in the area of service user involvement. It is hoped that groups can be accessed locally by service users past and present and provide an opportunity to share their experiences of substance misuse services and commuity support. Service users will also be inviited to get involved in consultations and have opportunities to be represenatatives of the communty within the ADAT structures.

Engaging Ethnic Minorities Communities

The ADAT has recently appointed a Health Improvement Assistant to engage with ethnic minority communities across Aberdeenshire. It is hoped that this project will assist the ADAT in understanding the how these groups experience local cultural attitudes towards alcohol and other drugs.

Family Support Groups

There are several family support groups curently running across North and Central Aberdeenshire. These groups provide support and advice to those living closest to people experiencing difficulties with alcohol and other drugs. The ADAT recognises the invaluable support provided by such groups for families and friends of loved ones in often extreme and difficult circumstances. The ADAT aims to improve links with these groups and ensure that their knowledge and experiences can be fed back to the ADAT strategy groups. It is hoped that with this improved knowledge and understanding that the ADAT will be able to provide resources for more family support groups to be available locally to those who need this support.
